ASG 5 - A - Side Proves Tightly Fought Match
On Thursday 21st June the inaugural ASG England v Wales 5 a side football match took place at the Filton Pro 5.
Following much tension and hype in the build-up to the game, the players did not fail to deliver a tense and exciting 60 minutes of football. After a nail-biting opening half hour the score stood at 6 – 8 to Wales. However, this lead was not to stand for long.
Following two goals in quick succession from England, the teams had drawn level. As the match drew on, regular substitutions kept the pace of play fast, something that would not change until the final 5 minutes of the match. Goals came in generous proportion from both teams, England held a fragile two goal lead. However, Wales took full advantage of a goal keeping substitution and the tiring legs of the England team, to gain 3 goals. Soon the score stood at 16 – 17.
England were not to be outdone. Digging deep, they replied with late goals by Jamie Bishop and the outstanding Jet Dyli; seeing England through to a narrow one goal
victory. The final score line was 18 – 17 in England’s favour.
Ultimately, there was little to call between the qualities of both teams. It will be interesting to see who will triumph in the rematch, when Wales have home team advantage.
Alarm Service Group to fly the Kitemark®
In light of the changes to fire law introduced in October Alarm Service Group have applied to join the Kitemark® Scheme for Fire Alarm Installations. This new Kitemark® Scheme provides third party accreditation to the BAFE modular standard SP203.
Achieving Kitemark® Fire Alarm Installations certification will reassure our customers that the service we offer is of a consistent high standard. The Kitemark® scheme is one of only three in the UK that has accreditation by UKAS (The United Kingdom Accreditation Service) to issue certification for the scope of work as defined by scheme document SP203.
About the BAFE Modular Scheme
The BAFE Modular Scheme for Fire Alarm, Detection & Suppression Systems was written and developed by a board of stake holders drawn from all quarters of the industry, chaired by the British Fire Protection Systems Association and took four years of development prior to its official launch in July of 2002.
Unlike comparable schemes which are only available to businesses that carry out all aspects of fire alarm installation and took four years of development prior to its official launch in July of 2002.
Unlike comparable schemes which are only available to businesses that carry out all aspects of fire alarm installation (design, installation, commissioning and maintenance), SP203 recognises that many professional industry service providers specialise in a specific aspect of fire alarm services and this is reflected in the scheme approach.
SP203 has been split into four modules, it is our intention to apply for and gain certification for all the modules in which we are competent to work within.
The four modules are:-
System Design
Installation
Commissioning and handover
Maintenance
Our Pre-assessment is scheduled for May 25th 2007 and once we have got our accreditation we will be able to use the Kitemark® on our headed paper and our vehicles and raise our profile in the fire detection and alarm market.
Swindon Schools Project Hailed as a “Huge Success”
After 18 months of hard work, the Swindon Schools Project has been handed over.
Project Manager Bob Stubbs has hailed the works as “a huge success for ASG,” adding that “off of the back of the works that we have done at Swindon Schools, Alarm Service Group have been able to quote for several other large projects.”
Bob was also keen to note that “none of this would have been possible without the high levels of support and dedication from all involved; right from design and installation to handover.
“Thanks to everyone’s hard work the Swindon Schools Project has proved to be another fantastic example of the high levels of workmanship and service that Alarm Service Group deliver.”
